Iran’s ‘Without Her’ to vie at Palm Springs filmfest

Iranian feature ‘Without Her’ has been set to compete at the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) in the US.

Directed by Arian Vazir-Daftari, the feature will be among the international titles to go on screen at the main competition program of the 34th edition of the US event.

“Roya is planning to emigrate from Iran to Denmark with her husband, but after she meets and takes in a young woman in distress, she finds that the woman is not who she seems. Soon Roya's world and carefully laid plans are upended in this suspenseful psychological drama,” a brief synopsis for the flick reads.

‘Without Her’ had its premiere screening at the Fajr Film Festival in Iran, where the films lead female star, Tannaz Tabatabaee, grabbed the Best Actress Award.

The PSIFF is an annual film event that aims to promote American independent films, also to shine a spotlight on international cinema.

‘World War III’, directed by Houman Seyyedi, will also vie at the 2023 PSIFF, slated for January 5-16.
